Cape Town Mission Field

Day 53
Wednesday

Today was our "chaos" day...Transfers! We left at 7:00 AM to set-up snacks and lunches at the Guguletu Chapel for the arriving and departing missionaries. A couple went to the East Cape and 5 left for home and 5 returned to Madagascar; now that it has been re-opened after the plague outbreak has been cleared.

Back at the office there were missionaries everywhere packing and storing items they won't need for awhile. The President was conducting interviews with the departing missionaries.

Elder Courtright ran over and picked up the 3 bikes from a nearby bike shop that reconditioned them so they could be used again if necessary.

Sister Courtright was busy getting the mail and boxes ready to ship out and working on sending out "new arrival" letters to family back home indicating the new missionary arrivals have arrived in good shape with a picture of them with President and Sister Lebethoa.

In the evening we sat in the glassed-in porch and watched the moon come up over the large pine trees in the green space between the roads. It was a "blue moon" and a "blood moon" and I understand a lunar eclipse was taking place in the western half of the states.

PS I have to share a funny story that Jackie and Jake shared with us. They Skyped us on Sunday morning on their way to a farewell of one of Jake's past High School students. Turns out he's going to Thailand. They did this by skipping out on their Stake Conference, which seemed like a good choice or sacrifice to see the new missionary off. It turns out that when they returned home they heard that our new Prophet President Nelson and his wife spoke at their Stake Conference.
