Cape Town Mission Field

20 April 2018
Day 132
Friday

We picked up Sister Thirsley to do the weekly cleaning at the office and she commented that President Markus just passed away this week. He served as the Mission President here from 1996 to 1999. He was the one that baptized her. She had been cleaning the office from since two Presidents before him. She expressed her love for both as they were very kind and wonderful people.

This evening we drove down to Fish Hoek to deliver a suit and some extra clothing to Elder Lare. The president asked us to pick up a suit from the store and gather some clothing (from all the donated clothing left behind by departing missionaries) for him after interviewing him when he arrived. He was only carrying a small carry-on bag and his attire was well worn. The Lord blessed us as we were directed to a store in the Canal Walk Mall where we found a suit that was on sale and eventually found the only matching matching pair of pants that went with it on another rack. Both were the last ones on the rack and they both were his exact size.
Before stopping at the Elders we decided to look for a place to eat in Fish Hoek and were directed (by the spirit) to the Galley Beach restaurant. It was a great location on the beach and it turns out that all the staff perform as singers of the Bayside Choir for youth in the area. They put on a show for a large German Group that booked the main dining area for a community event. We caught some video of part of their performance. They were awesome.
Oh, and the chicken with prawns in a citrus/curry sauce was to die for.
