Day 143
Tuesday
Today is a National Holiday called Labour Day (Workers Day) which seems similar to our Labor Day in the States. It was very quiet around the office and traffic was non-existent. The Makro store was open for part of the day so we made our weekly trip for missionary re-stocking supplies. We then stopped at Ronald Kintu's boarding in Langa to return the serving platters from yesterday's MLC Luncheon. We stopped at the Fish Fry place near the Shop Rite in Langa to pickup some chicken and fish. There were long Queue's out into the parking lot for the two banks ATM's at the shopping center. I asked a guy in line with me what that was all about and he indicated that it was the first of the month and the government deposits subsidy checks into everyone's accounts on the first. As we were leaving a gentleman asked us some questions about the church and we responded directly to his concerns about other churches that dupe people into sending in money for "blessings" then building their mansions. We informed him that we are not a paid ministry. And any tithing money we receive goes into building up the churches, temples, missionary work, etc. But no one is going to get financially rich in our church. Just a lot of blessings. He was happy to hear our answers and asked us to pray for him. So we bowed our heads in the parking lot and said a prayer together. He walked away with a Book of Mormon, Sister Courtright's phone number to answer any further questions, and an invitation to come out to church on Sunday at 9:00 am. He seemed very happy to hear what we had to say.
There is a pair of Egyptian Geese that hang around and they decided to become our new roof ornaments for the shed this morning.
Sister Hamilton is down with a cold, but Elder Hamilton did come in for part of the day.
