Day 152
Thursday

Today was a slow day at the office. I spied this pretty little bird outside my window. I looked it up on google and found it to be a Cape White-eye.

We left work a little early to drop off a car at the repair center near our boarding. Sister Courtright walked around the corner to the nut shop. She picked up some items to remake some granola that the Hansen's had left us. We continued to walk along the street stopping at shops that seemed interesting. We dropped into a pet shop where Sister Courtright had a long conversation with a yellow cockatiel. She said "Hello" and "I'm a pretty girl". We then stopped at a bakery and met Sister Brown from Milnerton ward. She recommended a yellow cake which we picked up for Elder Mushipi's birthday on Monday. We then stopped at a bike shop and met Neil and Tracey. They've had the bike shop open for about a year and were wonderful to talk to and hear their biking stories around the cape. We then stopped at Goody's cafe where we've heard some of the Elders like to eat. We noticed they had Souvlaki with Tzatziki sauce, so we decided to give it a try. Mmm, good stuff. We ordered a chicken platter for tomorrow's office staff meeting for planning an emergency drill with the West Cape missionaries. We then strolled up the rode and was stopped by Lucky from the Mandalay ward. He moonlights as a guard for a large complex of businesses. He pointed out the Hogshead restaurant in the back and asked if we'd like to take a tour. It is a micro-brewery as well. They cook their meats in the Texas style of wood-fired pit barbeque. Their specialty is brisket and burnt-ends. We tried some sausage and fell in love with it. Mike, the head chef said it's hard to find mild italian style sausage like we have in the states, but his recipe was close. And we agreed. So we bought 20 sausages to serve up at our next Missionary Leadership meeting. All-in-all we had a wonderful afternoon together.
