Day 275
Monday
This was a 'real' Monday. We got a call from the Fish Hoek elders informing us that they lost their phone. The Gugulethu elders hit a pot hole last night and got a flat and drove on it to the chapel because they were driving on their spare, due to a flat tire from Saturday. The zone leaders couldn't help them because their spare was flat. The Elsie River elders lent them their spare but driving home to their flat the car was driving funny. And this all took place before 8:00 am. Later this morning the Knysna elders phoned and indicated that they were driving to George and got a flat but their wrench doesn't fit the lug nuts. I had them call AIG tow truck to assist. The Zone Leaders (Elder Stevens) was particularly helpful in taking responsibility for picking up all the bad spare tires and taking them in to the shop for replacement or repair. That was really kind of him to do that, particularly on their P-Day. Then he offered to drive down to Fish Hoek and take the elders their replacement phone.
We ran to El Greeyo to set up future catering lunches and dinners. We then drove to the printing shop in Mowbray to pay for some new pass-along cards the Assistants are preparing. While there we learned a new Afrikaans word: Gees. It is pronounced "hes" and means a groove or a vibe. Afterwards Elder Courtright ran to the store to pick up some Boerewores for a braai the Assistants were putting on at the office with the other elders in their zone. It was a beautiful Spring day for a braai. Elder Fullmer did all the cooking and did a nice job. He offered Elder Courtright and A&W Cream Soda that he found at a specialty store that imported them from the US. Woo Hoo!
Elder Barnabas was also there, but unfortunately he had just received some bad news that his older step-brother had just passed away.
