    Day 280
Saturday

Today was another busy day. We picked up the Gugulethu elders and took them to the President's home with the Ford Ranger to pick up a couch and love seat that they are getting rid of. We took the love seat, which was just the right size to fit into their apartment. It is much better than the dilapidated couch they were using. The guard took the old one from us saying that he knew someone that could use it. We then met the Meadowridge elders and dropped off the large couch with them. Their couch was just a kind of fold down futon type top sitting on a bed frame. They came up with a plan to have me park the truck under their second floor walkway where they got in the truck bed and pushed up the couch on end up to the second floor. They had to stand on the sides to get a little higher. Sister Courtright and Elder Courtright were on the second floor walkway holding on to while the Elders ran upstairs to help pull it in. We had to rebalance it over the edge again to get it through the doorway. Then we ran into a narrow hallway trying to get it into the living room. We finally took the round disc legs off then took off the door (which required a drill to drill off the screw heads on the bottom latch because we could only get one screw out and the pin in the latch was not moving at all).
It was quite an exhibition. Too bad we didn't get pictures of us hanging onto the couch on the second floor walkway. But then again, it was probably good we didn't, then the President would have evidence of our dangerous behavior.
We then drove to Fish Hoek to look at the newly completed boarding in Brother and Sister Forsyth's home. It will be much closer to the area where the walking elders will be working. We had a wonderful chat with them afterwards and Sister Courtright walked away with some puzzles to put together. The largest was only a 500 piece puzzle so it shouldn't take her too long.
We made one last stop back at the Imperial Gardens to drop off some dishes that were left at their last catering event.
We finally made it home and ended up in bed quite early.
We also stopped at the office on our way home to pick up our car and have noticed that the grass has sprung forth some beautiful wildflowers. Some white, purple and yellow ones. It will be sad when they come to cut the grass again.

  1. Wow, that is ingenuity. I'm glad no one was hurt during all that moving.
