Day 262
Tuesday
This morning Elder Courtright went with the Assistants in the van to pickup the new elders at the airport. He had to rent another van because there are so many of them. First we stopped to check on letters at the Post Office and pickup some breakfast items for the new elders while they are staying at the Assistants boarding's. We did receive 7 letters today. Most were postmarked in May and June. Just a bit slow in getting here. Luckily, one of the letters arrived before one elder who is leaving tomorrow.
They were all dropped off at the Mission Home where they got to meet the President and his wife. Afterwards they went to Signal Hill, the spot where this land was first opened up and dedicated for missionary work back in 1850. We read the promise made then and later by President Kimball when he dedicated the country for missionary work. They all left for Mowbray and Langa where they were given pass-along cards and Books of Mormons to hand out to people the meet on the streets in order to "Test the Promise" made by the prophet. It was a wonderful experience for everyone.
It was back to the office for orientation, bags to be rechecked, then a walk down the street to the River Club for pizza for dinner.
It was a long day.
