Day 264
Thursday
Today we took the van back to the airport with Elder Hawkins, who leaves early. The others leave tonight. We had to call on Elder Hamilton to run out to the airport and bring Elder Hawkins passport and boarding passes that were left at the office. First thing we did was stop at PnP to pick up some food items for Sister Courtright to prepare a lunch at the office for the other veterans who will be leaving tonight.
After coming back from the airport we were all gathered in the office for lunch while President Lebethoa completed his departure interviews with the last two elders that joined who are leaving; Elders Aydelotte and Dove. Sister Courtright got loads of complements on her casserole. While sitting around the office afterwards Elder Gibbons found a shoe buffing pad that one of the elders left and he began to go around and shine all the veterans shoes. Elder Courtright even got his shoes shined. Elder Gibbons is real spirited individual, great sense of humor. We are going to miss this great bunch of elders. They truly have sacrificed a lot and they are now torn between the excitement of going home to family again and sad to leave their new true friends in the gospel. You can see the conflict as you look at Elder Hawkins contemplative face while we were eating lunch at the airport prior to his flight back to England. His home ward includes the Heathrow airport where he will be landing.
