Day 308
Saturday
Today is our day off so we went to the office and met some elders there who needed some supplies. They helped Elder Courtright put the mattresses onto the Ford Ranger. We then went to the Meadowridge elders and delivery several items for them, including a table. And we collected several items from them that they don't need anymore. Elder Barbre has fixed up the kitchen nicely to help accommodate the four elders now staying there. He moved the washing machine with the refrigerator to make the layout easier.
We then went to the Capri Elders boarding and picked them up walking up the hill to the Forsyth's home. We had them sit on the tail gate since the back seat was full of supplies. They swapped their thin mattresses for the full-size mattresses we brought them. We chatted with the Forsyth's for a while before heading back to the office.
We finished up some paperwork then stopped at the store for some food items and tried to buy some prepaid SIM Cards with airtime for the new elders until their new phone numbers become active. Elder Courtright tried activating them at the Spar market because Pick-n-Pay was offline. It didn't work there either so we drove to Canal Walk mall and found a Cell-C store which was able to activate the phones. We also picked up our usual vitamins and minerals at the Dis-Chem pharmacy store (Elder Courtright also had to renew his prescription that we brought with us from the states, his one year supply is almost gone...can you believe it?). We also met a wonderful lady in the Health Food store. Sister Courtright chatted with her for quite some time before we went into the staff only hallway and prayed with her. As we were leaving the mall Sister Courtright got the impression to pick up some bread, potato's, and carrots and bring them back to her for her and her two son's dinner since she had bare cupboards she was going home to. Her name was Natasha and she really wanted to go to church in the morning but it would interfere with her work schedule. We gave her name and number to the Assistants who arranged to visit with her during the week since her Sunday work schedule ran into the Sunday service schedule.
So it turned into another long day taking care of the elders and finally taking care of some of our shopping needs.
