Happy Birthday Sister Courtright! Woo Hoo! Celebrating your 31 (x2) birthday in South Africa!
Today we were busy in and out of the office preparing for tomorrow's North Zone conference. So for the time being we are going to celebrate Sister Courtright's birthday next week when things calm down. Sister Courtright is busy with the catering preparation for tomorrow's event. And she's asked Sister Hamilton to help since she's putting it on for the 28 people instead of catering it so she can make a special Christmas dinner for everyone. Complete with table decorations, candy canes, pumpkin pies, etc. So, needless to say we're in over our heads. And we had to run out to the airport in the middle of the day to drop off some items that zone leaders forgot to take with them back to the East Cape. We then ran downtown to pick up a package from someone from the states who wanted it to go to the Motherwell elders in the East Cape. We tried to stop at the V&A waterfront for lunch but found all the parking garages full. It was really crowded downtown and the airport was unusually busy. We then realized it is the start of the holiday season (summer vacation) when the kids are out of school and a lot of tourists also come down for the summer heat away from the northern cold. We had to run out to Langa around 7:30 PM to pick up the tableware since the people we asked to help us out tomorrow won't have access to a vehicle to get out to the Bellville chapel. So, we will be doing the setup and cleaning tomorrow also.
One highlight was the zone leaders stopped by the office to sing Happy Birthday to Sister Courtright prior to going to the airport. It was great.
We finally ended up at home around 9:00 PM rolling up Candy Cane Christmas history printouts (the shepherds crook) and tying them to the candy canes for the luncheon tomorrow.
