Cape Town Mission Field

    1 January 2019
   Day 388
Tuesday

Happy New Year!
It was a full day today. We picked up the Post and some sandwiches at the Pick n Pay then headed for the office around 8:30. Elder Courtright went to the airport to pick up a van. He rode with the Assistants who were picking up 5 new arrivals coming in from the Johannesburg MTC. They were all dropped off at the Mission Home for lunch with the President and his wife. Elder Courtright picked up the new missionaries with the Assistants and they all drove to Signal Hill with the President to welcome them to Africa. It was back to the Mission Office where they went through some training. Many were struggling to stay awake trying to adjust to the time difference from Salt Lake. We then had dinner brought in, lasagna. We then drove them to the Nightingale Close boarding for the night around 8:30 and called it a night.
We met Elder Fox from Arizona who has been to Africa a few times on big game hunts with his father and brothers in Limpopo. They do a lot of hunting in Arizona and he was hunting up to the day he left on mission. He does rifle and archery and has taken several big bull elk scoring over 370 from the Luna, New Mexico area where Elder Courtright used to hunt elk when we lived in New Mexico.
