Day 436
Monday
This morning we met an agent at 9:00 who showed us 3 boarding's near the beach where the elders are presently staying. They have 14 units in a large complex that are going for a long term lease due to the poor experience they were having with transient students attending either the hospitality school or the flight school. These would all work out nicely. They were the right size and only needed to have a washing machine added. We then went downtown to look around some more because we didn't have any other appointments until later in the morning (our 10:00 am appointment got pushed back). We found another agency Southby's that thought there might be an opening at a house not far from the chapel and that we should check later to see if it opens up. So we then connected with Brother Gobeni who showed us his flat near the west edge of town. They are moving to Uitenhage in East London for work there and to be closer to family. Their boarding was ok, a little worn, but they were asking too much for it. We had a wonderful lunch then our pushed back appointment got pushed back again. We felt like the boarding's we saw this morning were going to be the one we chose. But, we got a call from Ellen at Southby's and she said the house was available and asked if we'd like to see it. So we stopped by. It was an older home in a nice part of town about 2 blocks from the chapel and a couple more blocks from downtown. It was open and airy with wood floors and completely furnished. We fell in love with it. After we left we called the President and discussed our findings and he agreed we should put in an application for the house instead of the flats by the beach. We went to the office to fill out the application and the elders stopped by and Ellen agreed to take us there again to let them see the house. They were very excited with what they saw. The elders did some shopping then we picked them up and took them to the Pig n Whistle pub in Bathurst, about 30 minutes north. They were having an outdoor braai where you selected your cut of meat and they grilled it to your liking then you picked the sides you wanted. It was a beautiful evening and we had a great time.
No dogs, sheep, or cattle allowed in the pub |
