Day Zero! Our last day on Mission! Wow, when you're anxiously engaged in good works...time flies.
We got up this morning and prepared the pulled-pork that has been slow cooking in the crock pot all night. We gathered up the beasts in 2 crock pots and headed to the chapel. We enjoyed the Branch Conference in the Langa 2nd Branch and had the opportunity to sustain all the leadership of the church. The Branch President and the Stake President both spoke. We had a great lesson from Elder Levy about Elder Johnson's talk in General Conference about the 3 D's. He talked about the adversary's Deception by turning to the story of Sharem in Jacob in the Book of Mormon. It turned out that Sister Courtright picked up the Book of Mormon while we were driving down to Capri and she opened it to that story and read it while we traveled.
We had some wonderful youth speakers in the Langa 1st Branch and then they asked us to bare our testimonies including Kerry. After church we headed over to the Mbaki's to heat up the pulled pork. It was decided due to the rain that we'd have the farewell gathering at the chapel. So we moved everything over to the chapel and everyone pitched in to get it setup. Then Brother Mbaki prepared a wonderful farewell tribute in the chapel where we sang songs, many from the Primary Song Book. There were native songs sung by the women then the men. They even got Elder Courtright and Kerry up to dance with them. There were tributes given by Gelo Mbaki and the RS President. Sister Courtright was honored with a tradition head wrap. We got to bare testimonies again, including Kerry. They then sang God Be With You Til We Meet Again as the closing song. It was the song that we sang whenever a family left our Branch in Caribou, Maine when we were in the Air Force. It brought back some great memories. And the tributes they paid to us were over whelming. We were truly blessed today. Best Day Ever to end a Mission!!!
We cleaned up and stopped at Brother and Sister Romeo and Juliet Sande's house. They presented us with traditional necklaces that were made by her mother. We stopped by the Mbaki's one last time then stopped at our old boarding to show Kerry where we lived for two years and said good-bye to the Smith's. We then stopped to say good-bye to the Firth's and gave them a gift. We then stopped at the President's home to introduce them to Kerry, take some pictures and give them a gift plus the gifts that Kerry brought from the Stevenson's back home in Utah.
We then met with the Assistant's at our BnB and had a discussion with Martha the house keeper who is reading the Book of Mormon and has some great hope and questions for us.
Best Day Ever!!!
Sister Penelope Mbatha, she gave us some wonderful handcrafted going away gifts.
Beautiful Sisters!
