Day 701

It's Veteran's Day today. Thanking all the Vets for their service!
We got up an had breakfast on the patio with the Black-Faced Monkeys that were coming around. Several had babies attached to their underside. It was raining again today. No complaints though because they really need the rain everywhere here.
We then headed to the Durban Mission Office to drop off a package for Elder Mbaki who will be arriving this week. We met with the Howell's in the office and they showed us the area they cover. We also hear they are in desperate need of more senior couples.
We left and headed for St. Lucia where we will be going into a couple of different game reserves here. One is the oldest reserve park in South Africa. We checked in then went back to main street and found a shopping center for some food, drinks, and snacks then stopped at a burger place for some lunch. Great tomato, basil, mozzarella sandwich. Almost as good as Elder Courtright's.
We then headed for the boat launch where we went on a two hour pontoon boat cruise on the waterway in Isimangaliso Wetland Park looking for hippos. We found a lot of hippos and even a crocodile. The guide was great and very informative.
Black Faced Monkeys
Kerry found a strawberry shake that brought a big smile to his face
Met some good folks from Johannesburg down for a vacation and fishing off the boardwalk with Flamingo's in the background
Nile Crocodile
Ant nest in the tree. These red ants got tired of getting washed away during flooding or rainy seasons so they adapted to making their nests in the trees.
Kerry with hippo tooth
Mama hippo with baby boy, they stay isolated from the herd for awhile as the male babies aren't accepted as the female babies are readily accepted
Weaver birds setting up homes among the reeds, they can build a home in one day since the materials are right there
Two young teenagers play fighting
Kerry with Captain Anton, fellow beardsmen
We found a hippo a couple blocks from the lodge roaming the streets of St. Lucia. Apparently they come out at night and feed on the grass in the open areas around town.
