Cape Town Mission Field

  Day 692
Saturday
Count Up => +6

We walked the grounds at The Old Mill and found some deer and young ostrich's in their pens behind the breakfast dining room which overlooked the bass pond where kids and fish (catch and release). We had a lovely breakfast then headed for the caves. The caves were amazing. There is a longer tour but you have to crawl through some narrow passages and we weren't really dressed for that. There were a couple of grand caverns with some wonderful flows and columns. We also came to a large hollow tube that the guide would hit with the ball of his hand and you could hear a low thrum that vibrated throughout the cave. As we left the cave there was a large screen TV outside the restaurant and there was a large crowd gathered to watch the World Cup Rugby game between the South Africa Springboks and England. We watched for a while then headed for George. The town of Oudtshorn was vacant and we realized everyone was probably indoors watching the game.
We arrived in George just as the Springboks won the World Cup, we were listening on the radio while driving. We went to lunch at Wu's Chinese and the streets came alive with people driving up and down the streets honking and waving Springbok flags. We could only assume the same was going on all across South Africa.
We then went to the laudromat and did some laundry then checked into 23 Caledon BnB and relaxed the rest of the evening after fixing some BLT's.
The beautiful pool at the Old Mill had a cute sign on the wall near the pump
