We left our hosts, the Zenger's, around 7:30 this morning so we could make the long drive to Durban. We went through the upper route to get to Mthatha. It was beautiful country and most of which looked like you were driving through southern Utah. We had to be very careful as there were goats, sheep, cattle, and horses grazing along side the roadway. We met the Mthatha elders for lunch at Steers. We had Elder Mofokeng, Ncube, Buyondo, and Farer. They are serving in the farthest point away from Cape Town. They are wonderful elders and we really were glad that we were able to see them one last time. We really love Elder Farer, he's got a great attitude and a wonderful sense of humor. We asked them to take the little gift we had for the Zenger's to the zone conference in hopes that someone could get it to them. We completely forgot about it and as we were leaving the parking lot I requested some chocolate thinking Sister Courtright or Kerry would get me a candy bar from our Halloween treats. But Kerry opened the glove box to find the gift that we forgot to leave with the Zenger's. So we called back the elders who had just pulled away and gave it to them to get it to the Zenger's. We are really grateful for the little tender mercies the Lord leaves with us to help us get things accomplished. We then headed for Durban. We had a small delay coming through the mountains where the mist (or clouds) were so thick we were traveling very slow along with everyone else. We also came upon an accident where a semi hauling cars hit a pickup truck mostly head on. The front wheel of the semi was completely taken out and then we saw the pickup and its front end was completely ripped apart. We finally arrived in Durban at the Forest Lane Guesthouse in Uhmlanga. It is a beautiful BnB with a large common area, pool, and kitchen that we can access at any time. The bedroom was spacious and Kerry had a separate room with two full sized beds to choose from. We settled in and went to bed early because we were all tired from the long drive today. Tomorrow we go to church with Elder (now Brother) Duma in Hillcrest.
We also just received and email from Elder Lawer in Mdantsane 3 who has shared some of the dolls that Sandy's Aunt Nan had made for her. This beautiful little girl is now the proud owner of one of those dolls made with love!
