Today we skipped church and went to the Vincent Pallotti Hospital Emergency room near Pinelands for a special service there. As Elder Courtright was preparing for bed last night (potty stop before laying down for the night) he experienced and unusual lower back pain towards the right side. He couldn't get comfortable in bed so spent the next hour or so in the bathroom with intense inner gut pain. This caused him to eventually vomit everything up, but afterwards did not feel any better after a typical flu would provide. So he went to the emergency room in extreme pain where they took some x-ray's and ultra-sounds, but were having difficulty getting good pictures because he couldn't hold still. So they gave him some morphine for the pain which settled him right down then they took a CT scan and found a 5mm kidney stone that had passed down the tube between the kidney and bladder and is in a good spot to push out by itself now without going in after it. We grateful for Elder Hamilton coming and taking Elder Courtright to the hospital and giving him a Priesthood Blessing.

This is the first time Elder Courtright has been admitted to a hospital since 1963 when he had his tonsils removed. He hopes it will be another 50 years before he goes back.

We headed for the Cape of Good Hope today knowing it was going to be raining off and on. This is a trip that you spend a lot of time in the car and we were hoping for sunny breaks when we got out to see things. We asked Martha to come along and she was excited to do so. We first stopped at Simon's Town to see the penguins. We were practically the first on the beach. We met Sean Robertson from Idaho but grew up in Salt Lake around 45th South and Redwood Road. He has traveled the world (52 countries) working mostly on ships as a repair diver and inspector. We left just as it started to rain. Cape Town Mission Field       25 September 2018     Day 290 Tuesday Today was a quiet day around the office and we did make a Makro run for missionary supplies. Most of the day was spent catching up on emails and orders and baptisms and car issues. The Mandalay elders took their car in for service and we picked it up for them in the afternoon. There are some pretty white flowers blooming in the corner of the lot that I took a picture of.

Cape Town Mission Field       10 September 2018     Day 275 Monday This was a 'real' Monday. We got a call from the Fish Hoek elders informing us that they lost their phone. The Gugulethu elders hit a pot hole last night and got a flat and drove on it to the chapel because they were driving on their spare, due to a flat tire from Saturday. The zone leaders couldn't help them because their spare was flat. The Elsie River elders lent them their spare but driving home to their flat the car was driving funny. And this all took place before 8:00 am. Later this morning the Knysna elders phoned and indicated that they were driving to George and got a flat but their wrench doesn't fit the lug nuts. I had them call AIG tow truck to assist. The Zone Leaders (Elder Stevens) was particularly helpful in taking responsibility for picking up all the bad spare tires and taking them in to the shop for replacement or repair.
