Day 141
Sunday
Today was an enjoyable service. We were excited to sit in on Ward Council after church and see where they are going with the new ministering program. After that we went with several members and the Branch President to one of the sisters in the Branch whose grandson (age 23) passed away. They had a short service in their living room, with the Relief Society and Young Women's president speaking and the Branch President spoke too. Many of us sat in plastic chairs in the front yard and listened through the open door. We joined in for the musical numbers. We met the good sister afterwards, who was 72. She was very spry and fun to talk with. I couldn't pronounce here name so I won't even attempt to spell it.
We also are trying to remember the members names and faces so we take photos of them and write down their name. Here is Brother Mbaki who works at Villagio Restaurant and is the second councilor in the Branch Presidency.
Elder Greengrass stopped by the Mission Office around 7:30 pm to pick-up a spare car so I could take the car they're driving into the dealer tomorrow for service. I gave them the car that was recently repaired and fixed up. It wouldn't start. We had to push start it (it's a stick shift so that works). Except that Elder Greengrass had a temporary lapse of memory and kept trying to turn the key over. We asked him to drop the clutch instead. That didn't work. So we asked him to take it out of reverse and try again. That didn't work. So we asked him to put it in 1st gear, not 5th gear. That finally worked. Which was a good thing because me and Elder Chola were getting tired and we were running out of road, almost to the front gate. When they got the car back to the lot and transferred all their teaching materials into the boot they shut it and forgot to put one item in. But when they tried to open the boot it wouldn't open. This is the car I had the boot fixed on two weeks ago. So now all their items are in the stuck boot. So, we loaded up new teaching materials from the office into a cardboard box and gave them the keys to the other spare car we had sitting at the office. It never ends.
We finally finished up some letters and newsletter at the office and left around 11:00 pm. Some days never end.
