Day 177
Monday
This week is transfer week. We only have 3 new elders coming in and 3 going home. Today was preparing for the week. Elder Courtright received new registration disc for several cars. He replaced the one on the Ford Ranger and trailer. These registration discs mount inside the windshield (or windscreen as they are called here). They have the VIN, Plate Number, and expiration date on a small disc shaped sticker which acts like the registration paper we keep in the glove box in the states.
Many of the elders came into the office on this, there Personal Day, to clean up a few items. The Milnerton Elders returned the spare car and picked up their car that came out of service last week. The Paarl Elders brought in a spare key to their boarding and some car service invoices. Elder Courtright gave them a box with a block plane, chisel and hammer, and block with sandpaper to shim down their front door that is sticking due to the moisture we've received that is swelling some of the wooden doors.
This morning was very cooooool. It was 9C. That's about 48F. And without heaters in the boarding's it is a bit chilly. Sister Courtright has a space heater under her desk and after a while brought it into Elder Courtright's office because it was a bit too chilly in their for her.
This afternoon we stopped at the doctors office to receive our 4th weekly B-vitamin booster injection. Now we only have to go every four weeks.
We left a bit late and were late getting back to our boarding to pick up Sister Thirsley who is cleaning our boarding every other Monday. So Elder Courtright drove her home instead of to the Taxi stand which is difficult to get service later in the evening. She lives in the Guguletu township. That's an area that has had some rioting recently and some Taxi wars. The Taxi Lords are fighting over turf and most are run by "gangs". So in some cased there were some shootings last week and several Taxi owners/drivers were killed. Crazy stuff going on.
