Day 306
Thursday
This morning Elder Courtright took the Ford Ranger to the shed and picked up a bed frame and took it to the Milnerton boarding. He took some curtains to try in their boarding. They didn't quite fit, but they will have to do for now until we can find some wider ones. He went back to the shed and picked up 2 mattresses that had been wrapped in plastic but were not completely sealed. And some rain water got into the shed and seeped into the mattresses causing some staining and some mold to appear. He then went to our boarding and waited for the repair man to show up and fix the washing machine. It was then back to the office where he placed them on the trailer rack and sprayed the ends down with some mild soap and water and scrubbed it out the best he could. He then took a 20% bleach solution and sprayed it all over the rest of the mattresses and let them sit out and dry for the next few days.
Elder Courtright then picked the num-num plums (natal plums) from the bushes behind the office to try and make some jam for the senior couples. He washed them and placed them in the refrigerator until some more ripen to have enough for one batch.
Elder Courtright sent a picture of the palm tree behind the office because one of the palm fronds has broken off and has caught the wires leading into the office, which are being yanked by the palm tree every time the wind blows.
Sister Courtright was busy working on gathering the rest of the items that the elders need for their new boarding's. The Mandalay elders (Opolot and Velasco) were giving their new boarding a thorough cleaning and stopped by to pick up some more cleaning supplies. They are very humble and gracious elders, we really enjoy working with them.
Plum jam sounds fabulous. It reminds me of mom making stewed plums with globs of bisquick on top, dumplings I guess.
