Day 309
Sunday
This morning we drove to Hermanus to deliver the elders their pre-paid temporary phone until there old phone number gets reactivated. They had their phone and a few other items taken from them yesterday by two drunk men that stopped them on the street while they were proselyting. No harm done and not much lost. Just a lot of time wasted getting them back into their boarding since their security gate requires them to call a number to get in. The bishop gave them a phone yesterday evening until we could arrive and give them the prepaid phone that we picked up last night at Canal Walk Mall.
We then went down to the bay to get some lunch. We found a place called Coco's which had and upstairs seating area with open air windows. We saw a pair of whales swim by and later watched the younger one jump out of the water several times.
We then drove back to Somerset West and gave the Khayelitsha elders a prepaid temporary phone until their new phone gets activated. We wouldn't have had so much trouble with the phones but the area person in Johannesburg had Elder Courtright delete all the unused phones recently to save money and insisted that getting new numbers back would be easy when he needed them. But it turns out that Salt Lake shut down the PO ordering process for upgrades last Thursday and nothing can be done until Monday (tomorrow).
We then went back to the office so Sister Courtright could finish putting together the finishing touches on the Crest newsletter. We finished around 7:00 PM and dropped copies off at the President's home so he could take them with him to the East Cape tomorrow when he flies out for zone conferences in East London. Another long day, phew!
