Day 336
Saturday
This morning we drove out to Somerset West and then on to Hermanus to do some boarding inspections. We are very pleased with the effort the elders are taking in their boarding. The Khayelitsha elders, 4 of them, share the same 2 bedroom flat and they are getting along well. The Somerset West elders have taken really good care of their flat too. The Hermanus elders have proven to be very picky in their boarding cleanliness and we see nothing out of place. We stopped at a farmstall in Houw Hoek pass to have some lunch and picked up some of their famous meat pies for lunch tomorrow. Once home we realized that it is our 46th anniversary of meeting each other at a church dance when we were in high school. So we went to the Canal Walk mall to get our hair done to look nice for tomorrow's Stake Conference with the general authority. Elder Courtright found a place called Edge for Men and he had a fantastic experience. He had his hair washed by one lady then his hair was cut by the main manager. He offered to do some waxing to remove unwanted hair. He said, Why not? Muhomad then began to dip some q-tips in some blue wax, blow on it to cool it down, then inserted them into his ears and nose. He then began to thread away fine hair around his ears and cheeks while holding one end of the thread in his teeth and rolling the other ends with his other two hands. Once the was plugs were jerked out they were populated with his ear and nose hairs. He was then sent back to the washing area where his scalp was washed and massaged thoroughly. He was tingling for an hour later. He was then sent back to the barbers chair where it was dried and styled with a bit of hair gel. It was amazing. Sister Courtright found Caroline at a hair salon across the aisle and she carefully cut her hair and provided some products to help improve her scalp for hair growth in the areas that are thinning out. We then went to see Disney's Nutcracker. It had a great message and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stopped at the office on the way home to pick up some packages to give to the elders at conference tomorrow. We also put together a birthday package of things we had around the office for Elder Opolot, from Uganda, whose birthday is tomorrow. He turns 21 and has never celebrated a birthday before. And has been on his own since turning 13. He is the most humble and sweetest missionary we know and he deserves a celebration.
Well, that picture is worth saving 🤣. It sure looks like it hurt. Glad you survived.
