Day 357
Saturday
Hello December! We are kicking off the Church's "Light the World" campaign today by doing a worldwide day of service project. Next week is a serve the world, the following week is serve your community, the next is serve your family, and the week of Christmas is building your personal Faith in Christ.
We stopped at the Langa church house to go and do some yard clean up at an elderly brothers home, Brother Musheshe. Turns out he is not a member but is being taught by the missionaries. We found out that his oldest son, in his twenties that lives in Nyanga, was involved in shooting some people. One was a young man that lives just up the street from their home. The funeral service was going on up the street so we had to drive around the back way because the crowds were in the street. It was difficult to understand all the details but we asked if we could come into his house and pray with them. We invited the rest of the family that was there to come out and we sang a hymn then President Mbaki gave a wonderful prayer of comfort and peace to be with the family by calling upon the atoning power of Christ to lay all their burdens and cares at His feet. It was very a humbling and spiritual experience.
We went to the office in the afternoon to take our minds off this morning. We did some more work putting together the Christmas cards for the missionaries. The Hamilton's came by the office so they joined in to help us.
