Cape Town Mission Field

    15 December 2018
   Day 371
Saturday

Today we had to run out to Hermanus to deliver Elder Felisberto's passport to him so he could receive a money transfer at the Western Union office that his parents sent him. We stopped in Somerset West first and inspected both boarding's there. After inspecting the Hermanus boarding and taking the elders downtown to pickup his money we dropped them back at their boarding then went downtown to have some lunch. We stopped at an Italian place next to the old NG Church. We sat outside in the shade and across the street was the church yard where they had an open air farmers market set up. One group was playing music and we listened to "Achy Breaky Heart", "Way Down Yonder on the Chatahootchee", and "From a Jack to a King". So I guess country music is alive and well in South Africa. We walked around town and found some wonderful galleries and met some great folks. We also listened to the Rotary Club practice for their annual Christmas singing event. This marks their 50th anniversary doing this event. We stopped at our favorite dinner stop for dessert before heading back along the coast walkway to our car and headed back to Cape Town. We stopped at the office to take care of a couple of items before heading home. We got home around 9:00 PM, again.
Sister Courtright did introduce the gospel to a couple of staff members at one of the galleries and called the missionaries to stop by and give them a Book of Mormon. We stopped by during our walk-about and saw that the missionaries were explaining the restored gospel to them. One lady also stopped by while we were eating and said she noticed our name tags and that she is from Zimbabwe and was a member when she was there. We explained that once you are a member you are always a member. So we told her where the chapel was located, which was near to where she stays and we gave her the missionaries phone number to call upon them for directions and to welcome her to church on Sunday.
Herbie made it to South Africa!

Arnold, who was attending to his wife's gallery today, her name was Charmaine De Jongh Geldenblom
