We heard from the Firth's that they stayed at the hospital until around 1:00 am then went home. Elder Olsen is at the hospital and is scheduled for surgery tomorrow around 1:00 pm. The break in his wrist is in a bad location that is hindering blood flow to his hand. It sounds like a wire and pin or screw will be installed. Interesting how we all just watched the church's new safety video's and one was specific to sporting activities and doing "show off" types of things as being very dangerous, wasteful, and setting a bad example. Still this elder (the one who was also riding around the church parking lot with no-hands on his bike) decided he was immune to such directives from the church headquarters. So now we have many people attending to his consequences, including his companion that now has become a third wheel to the assistants and zone leaders while his companion is in the hospital. The widows mite is paying for x-rays and surgery for this elder to be able to show off his stuff. I guess you can tell Elder Courtright has no sympathy for this type of behavior.

Cape Town Mission Field   28 October 2019   Day 687 Monday Count Up => +1 We have now started our personal tour of South Africa, this is Day 1. We headed for the Cape of Good Hope today knowing it was going to be raining off and on. This is a trip that you spend a lot of time in the car and we were hoping for sunny breaks when we got out to see things. We asked Martha to come along and she was excited to do so. We first stopped at Simon's Town to see the penguins. We were practically the first on the beach. We met Sean Robertson from Idaho but grew up in Salt Lake around 45th South and Redwood Road. He has traveled the world (52 countries) working mostly on ships as a repair diver and inspector. We left just as it started to rain. Cape Town Mission Field       25 September 2018     Day 290 Tuesday Today was a quiet day around the office and we did make a Makro run for missionary supplies. Most of the day was spent catching up on emails and orders and baptisms and car issues. The Mandalay elders took their car in for service and we picked it up for them in the afternoon. There are some pretty white flowers blooming in the corner of the lot that I took a picture of.

Cape Town Mission Field       10 September 2018     Day 275 Monday This was a 'real' Monday. We got a call from the Fish Hoek elders informing us that they lost their phone. The Gugulethu elders hit a pot hole last night and got a flat and drove on it to the chapel because they were driving on their spare, due to a flat tire from Saturday. The zone leaders couldn't help them because their spare was flat. The Elsie River elders lent them their spare but driving home to their flat the car was driving funny. And this all took place before 8:00 am. Later this morning the Knysna elders phoned and indicated that they were driving to George and got a flat but their wrench doesn't fit the lug nuts. I had them call AIG tow truck to assist. The Zone Leaders (Elder Stevens) was particularly helpful in taking responsibility for picking up all the bad spare tires and taking them in to the shop for replacement or repair.
