Monday


Today we dropped off the Mfuleni car at Car Smart to have them look at the terrible grinding noise coming from underneath the car. We spent the rest of the day at the office trying to catch up on many of our responsibilities with baptismal records, leases, phone updates, car issues, etc.
We left for home around 7:00 pm but later Elder Courtright went to the Nightingale boarding's to install some florescent lights in the Langa 1 elders flat that have been out for some time now. He also visited the Assistants flat and the Zone leaders flat to review the cleanup job we had done by an independent cleaning company. Their boarding's get a lot of traffic during MLC and Transfers so we decided to help them out and have a professional company come in and do a deep cleaning. The Assistants boarding looked ok but the Zone Leaders boarding did not have the walls cleaned or the kitchen cupboards stripped of the contact paper as we had requested in the contract. So we will ask them to go back and re-clean the Assistants flat. We hate to be a bother but we paid a lot of money for this extra cleaning job. Just another typical day.

Cape Town Mission Field   28 October 2019   Day 687 Monday Count Up => +1 We have now started our personal tour of South Africa, this is Day 1. We headed for the Cape of Good Hope today knowing it was going to be raining off and on. This is a trip that you spend a lot of time in the car and we were hoping for sunny breaks when we got out to see things. We asked Martha to come along and she was excited to do so. We first stopped at Simon's Town to see the penguins. We were practically the first on the beach. We met Sean Robertson from Idaho but grew up in Salt Lake around 45th South and Redwood Road. He has traveled the world (52 countries) working mostly on ships as a repair diver and inspector. We left just as it started to rain. Cape Town Mission Field       25 September 2018     Day 290 Tuesday Today was a quiet day around the office and we did make a Makro run for missionary supplies. Most of the day was spent catching up on emails and orders and baptisms and car issues. The Mandalay elders took their car in for service and we picked it up for them in the afternoon. There are some pretty white flowers blooming in the corner of the lot that I took a picture of.

Cape Town Mission Field       10 September 2018     Day 275 Monday This was a 'real' Monday. We got a call from the Fish Hoek elders informing us that they lost their phone. The Gugulethu elders hit a pot hole last night and got a flat and drove on it to the chapel because they were driving on their spare, due to a flat tire from Saturday. The zone leaders couldn't help them because their spare was flat. The Elsie River elders lent them their spare but driving home to their flat the car was driving funny. And this all took place before 8:00 am. Later this morning the Knysna elders phoned and indicated that they were driving to George and got a flat but their wrench doesn't fit the lug nuts. I had them call AIG tow truck to assist. The Zone Leaders (Elder Stevens) was particularly helpful in taking responsibility for picking up all the bad spare tires and taking them in to the shop for replacement or repair.
