Day 548
Monday
This morning Elder Courtright called and arranged for the Meadowridge Elders to go to Century City to pick up another gate remote and pedestrian gate tab. He notified Johannesburg of the stolen Fleet card then arranged for Moeneed to meet the elders at 2:00 pm at their boarding and he will change their locks. He took the elders up to the part store and picked up a battery then stopped at the grocery store and bought some power for the Mfuleni Elders that were all out of power. They got the battery installed and sent them on their way. They were very bummed about personal items like their scriptures and Elder Miller had a family photo album he had take also. He thought it was strange that they took a large stack of pass-along cards from the dashboard. Last night when they went out to look at the car there were a few people hanging around and asking what happened and by some of their questions he realize these were probably the people that broke into their car. But he noticed they were carrying knifes and pistols so they didn't push to offend or accuse anyone. The mission leader that they were visiting began to get agitated with them knowing they were probably the cause of the theft but Elder Miller quietly pulled him aside and let him know that they were carrying weapons and he didn't want to end up seeing anyone hurt so he convinced him to back down and walk away.
We went to the Howard Center with the Firth's for lunch and we picked up the Mission History hard copies from the printers. We then finished the afternoon at the office as the zone leaders stopped by to put in their orders for the week. Sister Courtright had to admonish the Flats zone leader to not let one of the elders use the office phone to call home on their Personal Day. This has been strictly prohibited by the President. They are to find their own personal means to call, Skype, or email home from low cost sources like open wi-fi networks at the library, etc.
We loaded up the truck for tomorrow's zone conference then went home early; around 6:00 pm because we both were feeling the effects of some flu.
