Cape Town Mission Field

  21 July 2019
  Day 589
Sunday

We heard from the maintenance man that they finished the Wellington chapel and had their first meeting last weekend. It is set up in an old home that was acquired from some members. There are usually about 20 to 25 members from Wellington attending the Paarl chapel which is quite a ways away. There were 85 members show up for their first meeting and had standing room only. Even though some were members from the Stake and the Mission President and his family were there also. So we felt impressed to attend church there today. It was a wonderful experience and there were about 74 members and visitors attending today. The speakers were moving and shared the depth of their conversion and commitment to keep coming praying for the day they would have their own chapel. One member was visibly moved because his uncle and aunt that motivated him to become a member were anxiously awaiting for their chapel but recently passed away and were not there physically but spiritually you knew they were watching. Afterwards the choir stayed behind and we were drawn back in when we heard their warm-up number from the street which was "In the Jungle".
They sounded great.

We stopped to have a sandwich along the riverfront in Paarl on our way home.
