Cape Town Mission Field       11 February 2019     Day 429 Monday Today the FM group showed up to start repairs on the Mission Office. There are going to repaint but first need to fill in some cracks that have appeared over the years. Once they began opening them up there were several that were very wide and deep. We let them have at it while we were preparing for last minute changes to tomorrow's transfer day. We found one elder that was assigned to a driving area that has never driven. Whoops. So we had to swap him for another area.

Cape Town Mission Field       10 February 2019     Day 428 Sunday We had a great church service today. The lesson for Priesthood was actually taken from a talk at the Women's Session of the last conference from Joy Jones entitled "For Him".  Sister Courtright rallied some support to teach a music class to help people lead music, read music, and if they want to even learn to play the piano. We came to the office in the afternoon and found the front gate opened. There was also no power in the building. It turns out the electric company is rotating around some power outages in the area. Tonight our boarding is suppose to go dark and tomorrow morning the office is suppose to be without power for a couple of hours. Elder Courtright found the light sensor bracket on the gate was bent away as if someone used it to stand on to climb over the fence. He bent it back into position and the gate began to work again. Cape Town Mission Field       9 February 2019     Day 427 Saturday This morning we got up and had some French Toast then picked up the two bikes from Neil. We went to the office and dropped off the one new (used) bike for the Milnerton elders and placed it in the shed. We then headed up to Tableview and dropped off the repaired bike for Elder Orro. We looked at the curtains they installed in their bedroom and they looked really nice. We then headed over to the beach which is about 4 blocks away. We went upstairs to the Primi restaurant that overlooks Table Bay and had a nice lunch by the window. Afterwards we went down to the beach and the wind had picked up so the beach was filled with kite surfers. We met one couple that had been doing it for about a year now and they showed us how the kite worked. There is a harness around your mid section that you hook onto the bar and pulley system. Cape Town Mission Field       8 February 2019     Day 426 Friday This morning we stopped at the car repair shop up the street to pick up the spare car that needed a brake job. I also talked to Neil and he said the bike would be ready later today and he showed me a bike that would work for our needs as I'm looking for two more for the Milnerton elders. He said he would keep an eye out for another used one similar to what we've been purchasing. We then stopped at the office to drop off the car then went to the Post Office to pick up the mail. Turns out we're getting a lot of Christmas cards and a few packages that were shipped by friends and family to the elders back in November and early December that are just now getting to us. We received our weekly order of meals from DeLish catering that they delivered to the office. We had Chicken Tagine for dinner at the office. Cape Town Mission Field       7 February 2019     Day 425 Thursday We left around 8:00 am this morning to travel to Somerset West (30 minute drive) and Hermanus (another 45 minute drive) to do boarding inspections. Sister Courtright wasn't too happy with the Somerset West boarding's so she said if they got the place cleaned up we would stop back again on our way home to give them a second chance. On our way to Hermanus we stopped at a Farmstall (Fruit Stand sort of business with a store and restaurant) in Hoew Hoek. We picked up some more honey, harvested locally in the bush, and some meat pies (steak and mushroom). Sister Courtright also picked up some more flower arrangements to redo the ones in the office. Elder Courtright also picked up a tray of figs that were freshly harvested. He plans on making a Waldorf Salad with them. Cape Town Mission Field       6 February 2019     Day 424 Wednesday This morning was an early start with us taking the Assistants car into the dealer in Athlone for service and brakes. The traffic was crazy backed up going the opposite direction but we still ran into a bit of it once we had to get onto Klipfontein Road. We arrived a few minutes past 7:00 AM and got out of there around 7:30. We waded our way through traffic and got to the office around 8:30. Don't know why it was so thick this morning. Elder Courtright left around 10:00 and picked up an armchair at the storage shed and drove it up to the Milnerton boarding then went to the Tableview boarding to pick up one of their bikes that had its crank bearing fall apart on them. He stopped Dolphin beach on the way back to take some pictures of the kite-surfers. It was a very windy day and the place was loaded with kite-surfers all up and down the beach. Cape Town Mission Field       5 February 2019     Day 423 Tuesday This morning started early when we received a call from the Mlungisi elders in Queenstown who indicated that one of their bikes had been cut from its chain outside their boarding and taken sometime during the night. Elder Courtright asked why it was outside and they said that they had three elders staying at their boarding for a while and it was very tight so they starting securing outside their door. They live in a gated compound after all, shouldn't that be safe enough. Well, apparently not.  We picked up the post then went to the Makro store for boarding supplies, including two more fans. Boy, the fans are becoming popular this time of year (it's summer time down here you know). At the office we wrapped up some more boarding leases and Sister Courtright discussed the changes she's proposing for the office with President Lebethoa.
